The Sanyuka Children’s Choir is currently visiting and performing with choir students at Highland Middle School. The Sanyuka Children's Choir is comprised of orphaned and vulnerable children of Uganda, Africa, who are under the care of Sanyuka Children Ministries. Made possible through a grant written by music teacher Emily Miller and funded through The Highland Foundation for Educational Excellence, this three-day intensive workshop (October 14-16) allows for increased cultural awareness and the opportunity to discover first-hand the diversity of world music through the eyes of peer performers. Highland students will ultimately go beyond the music and deepen their understanding of culture, poverty, need, perseverance and joy of the Ugandan children. The Sanyuka Children's Choir performed with the HMS student choirs on Wednesday, October 16 in the Highland High School Auditorium. It was an uplifting experience!
